Life, grief, and health are unpredictable. Just when you think you’re moving forward, something can pull you back. I’ve learned this from my education, my work, and my personal experience.
I’m Vera, I work alongside mental health professionals, & other health practioners to support your nutrition, wellness, and grief journey. In other words, I’m the walk-and-talk nutrition counsellor, the get-off-the-couch-let’s-do-something coach, and the companion you can rely on when life feels overwhelming.
We create a safe environment. We’re trauma-informed, which means we understand the importance of mental health in nutrition and support equitable access to healing for all.
We encourage you to find creative solutions that work for you because food, grief, and health should be colourful, never cookie-cutter.
We help our clients examine their lifestyle choices in the present with an objective lens so they can choose how they would like to return to their healthy manageable baseline.
The first step in your health journey is creating awareness. When you’re intrigued by what your body is doing, how it’s reacting, and how you feel, you can create a wellness plan that works for you.
I was intrigued by how our metabolism processed food differently and needed to know why. So I pursued a B.Sc. in Food, Nutrition, & Health, worked with experts, volunteered in Vancouver's Lower East Side, taught kids about food, and advocated for equitable food choices to expand my knowledge on how we interact with our food.
I was confident in my knowledge and had established my own healthy habits. But when my partner of eight years passed away, eating, exercising, and connecting with others became insurmountable. I lost weight, appetite, and the will to engage with life.
Years of studying nutrition and health gave me a scientific lens to view what was happening. Yet even that knowledge couldn’t quiet my fear that I might never return to "normal". I felt lost in a sea of grief, with no clear path back to the person I once was.
Thankfully, I found a counsellor who helped me navigate my grief, and provided tools for self-reflection towards healing. With the support of friends, family, the compassionate grief groups, connecting with other widows who checked in on me, I gradually regained my weight, eating habits, and zest for life. My day-to-day became learning to live with grief and, ultimately, thrive.
As I started feeling better, I wanted to understand what had happened to me more deeply. I shifted my focus from broader community work to more personalized, one-on-one guidance. This led me back to school, where I’ve trained to become an integrative nutrition coach, with a special emphasis on supporting grieving people through their own health journey.

It’s terrifying to see how wellness is siloed to one practitioner for each symptom. Mainstream medical systems add more prescription drugs, send someone for a 15-minute consult, and tell them what they’re feeling isn’t real. On the flip side, people looking for answers can fall into the dangerous rabbit hole of unfounded advice that can detriment their health.
We stand against one-size-fits-all health advice, complicated science, and oversimplified wellness. Instead we advocate for informed choices, incremental change, and habit-building that suit your needs. We parse through the health literature so we can support our clients' wellness with nuance, compassion, and evidence.
We recognize that no decision exists in isolation. We see the systems that create barriers to well-being and advocate for equitable health. In your grief and wellness journey, we walk alongside you—understanding that healing isn’t linear, life moves in waves, and the pace of the world often pushes us to move forward before we’re ready.
